Notes on Tell the Wolves I'm Home, Carol Rifka Brunt
"It's the most unhappy people who want to stay alive, because they think they haven't done everything they want to do. They think they haven't had enough time. They feel like they've been short changed." (p. 203). If you lived your life "like you wanted", whatever that means, would death seem less threatening? People often say "well, on your tombstone, you wouldn't want written I wish I'd worked more, what you would want written is that you had good relationships" or something along those lines. But is that true? Or even true for most people? Maybe some people do wish they'd worked more. Perhaps what people want written is "I have done everything I wanted to do".
